"I'm elated to receive this prize from my fellow poets. The fraternity I belong to has honoured me and I humbly accept this honor. Jatiya Kabita Utshab 9National Poetry Festival) is now one of the major cultural festivals in the country. The festival witnesses a confluence of poets from all over the country and abroad," Saha said. Mahadev Saha was born on August 5, 1944 in Dhanghara, Sirajganj. The sole child of parents Godadhor Saha and Birajmohini, Mahadev completed his primary and high school education in his village. For higher education he attended Dhaka College, Bogra College and Rajshahi University. "In my student days, I enjoyed reading works of the literary masters like Babindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and Jibanananda Das," said the poet.
The noteworthy elements in Saha's poetry are solitude, love, yearning, the Liberation War, nature, poverty, secularism and equal rights. The poet is deeply moved by the ravages of poverty. His style is unquestionably unique and evocative. His poems also have a ready impact with their uncomplicated approach. His words and verses articulate the torments of a lonesome soul and mourning heart.

Bangladeshi women in Trouble (Continue)
For example, "eve-teasing" is a very widespread harassment that our women recurrently face in the streets and it's really unfortunate that some of the victims of such harassment s become absolutely cynical about life. Recently, a teenage school girl named Pinky committed suicide in the city due to unendurable eve teasing by some filthy beast. The suicide of these young girl, who had a decent socio-economic background, emphasizes the regrettable fact that no one is safe from the nasty grasp of such inhuman harassment's that our women silently endure every day. working women and students regularly face such harassment's that dampen their spirit to progress in life. It appears that our flawed social and legal systems are incapable of endowing our women with the needed strength to stand defiantly against these harassment's get away with their transgressions, simply because we do not actively protest against such misdeeds and we do not have effective legal mechanisms to take stern actions against these wrongdoings.
We must understand how tormenting some of these harassment's can be that the deflated victims decide to end their own life. We must not forget that only our persistent gallantry and united efforts can kick this noxious darkness out of our society, once and for all.
